　　倍數的表示法

表示倍數時通常藉助half, double, twice, three times等之類的詞：

Half (of) the apples are bad. 一半蘋果是壞的。

His homework is not yet half done. 他的作業還沒完成一半。

He eats twice what I eat. 他的食量是我的兩倍。

比較以下三句，雖然表達形式不同，但含義相同：

1. This rope is three times as long as that one. 這根繩子是那根的'三倍長。

2. This rope is three times longer than that one. 這根繩子是那根的三倍長。

3. This rope is three times the length of that one. 這根繩子是那根的三倍長。

第(1)句和第(3)句的意思比較清楚，但第(2)句常容易誤解，有人認為它與其他兩句意思不同，應理解為“這根繩子比那根繩子長三倍”，但絕大多數語法學家並不這樣認為，而是認為以上三句意思相同。
