advertise的用法説明

advertise 'ædvətaiz，分為及物動詞 vt. 和不及物動詞 vi .兩種詞性。有做廣告、通知、表示，顯示等基本釋義。

　　【一、基本詞義】

vi. 登廣告，做廣告：

He advertised for a secretary. 他登廣告招聘一名祕書。

vt. 為…做廣告：

They advertise their goods in the local papers. 他們在本地報紙上為產品做廣告。

　　【二、常用短語】

advertise oneself 自吹自擂：

Stop advertising yourself. 別再吹噓自己了。

be advertised as 被宣傳為：

The inn is advertised as being from the early 16th century. 這家小旅館被宣傳為自16世紀初就有了。

　　【三、用法説明】

1. 用作及物或不及物動詞時含義不同：

advertise sth指為某物做廣告，即登廣告宣傳某物，advertise for sth指登廣告徵求或尋找某物，其中的 for表目的.。注意，不要受漢語的影響而譯錯，如“你要想賣掉你的產品, 你就得為此登廣告”譯成英語應是：

If you want to sell your product you must advertise it. 而不是：

If you want to sell your product you must advertise for it.

2. 用作及物動詞時，其後通常接名詞或代詞作賓語，雖然有時也接that從句，但通常會改為advertise the fact that…：

They advertised that a position was open. 他們登出廣告説有一個空職位。

Don’t advertise the fact that you’re looking for another job. 不要讓別人知道你在另找工作。

3. 要加強其語意，可用heavily, widely等副詞修飾：

These products have been advertised very heavily. 這些產品廣告做得很多。
