　閲讀一：推銷產品 Presenting Your Product

Jennifer要帶加拿大客户Bob Mckenzie先生和Andrea Lloyd小姐參觀公司的新產品。他當然要藉此機會大力推銷這項新開發成功的商品。如何利用短短一兩分鐘的時間引出對方最大的興趣，則得事先花費一番心思了!

Mr. Mckenzie, Mr. Lloyd, let me take you to our showroom. I think you’ll be interested in seeing some of our latest innovations in microwave ovens.

This is Action’s pride and joy, the Kitchen Master. It’s only a prototype but it’s a prime example of our future line of smart products. We are all very excited about this oven. In trial runs, this product has performed very well.

Its main design feature, and key selling point, is the "Correct Cook" option, which uses a sensor to see if the dish has been properly cooked through and through. Basically, "Correct Cook" makes it virtually impossible to over or under cook food. You won’t find this feature in any other microwaves.

You must admit this type of feature will appeal to the many microwave users in the West. We at Action are convinced that smart products like the Kitchen Master are the wave of the future.

短語解説

pride and joy 最讓人引以為傲的人(事或物)

這是口語用詞。當你覺得某個人的表現、或某件事物讓你感到驕傲和高興，而且可以拿出來炫耀的，都可以説是你的"pride and joy"。

My department’s pride and joy has to be its latest award for productivity and efficiency.

smart product 智能型產品

selling point 賣點

這個詞組是銷售上的名詞，指一項商品的各個特性中，有一點可以強調出來，作為吸引顧客購買的重點特色。"point",重點。

短語解説

tailor-made 最適合，最完美的

"tailor"是‘裁縫師’;裁縫師以手工製作的西裝，總是最合身。因此這個詞組是形容某人或是某物的條件好，對於某種情況來説，是最完美、最合適的。

MBA 企管碩士

這是"Master of Business Administration"(企管碩士)的縮寫。"Master"是指‘碩士(學位)’;"Administration"是‘行政管理、經營’的意思。

If you want an MBA, it’s important to get accepted to a good school.

forward-looking 高瞻遠矚的

這個口語用法源自動詞詞組"look forward",‘往前看、眼光向前’之意。所以"forward looking"這個形容詞引申有‘高瞻遠矚的、考慮未來’的意思。

Only the most forward-looking companies will adapt and profit in the 1990’s.

在90年代，只有把眼光放遠的公司才能生存獲利。

take-charge 負責的

這是由動詞詞組"take charge of"演變出來的形容詞，意思就是指‘能控制事情，負起責任’的人或組織。

We’re looking for a take-charge company to distribute our new product in a competitive market.

我們在找一個肯負責的公司，將我們的產品在競爭激烈的市場中分銷出去。

market share 市場佔有率

特指某種產品，因有固定的消費者購買，故而控制了市場的一部份;"market share"即指在同類產品的市場中所佔有的銷售比例。"share"在此當名詞用，有‘份兒;分擔’的意思。

After all of our TV sets were found to be defective, our market share dropped by 75%.

不能過於謙虛，但也不可空口説白話。通常要用實例説明自己在前職上的工作表現，以證明自己對未來的新職也能勝任愉快。

總結你的演説時，最好以信心和熱誠重申自己看重這個機會。"look forward to+ n. ()"是表示熱切期望之實用句型，另外也可使用"welcome"。
