“三十年前荊楚大地的一個凌晨，在一個屬相中是鼠的時辰，一個藝術的幽靈來到人間，佛賦予他的使命就是帶領芸芸眾生探索生命的本源，挖掘生活的真諦，創造生活的美。因此，他的鞭下不是勤勞的牛羊，而是一羣月亮，他在尋找心靈的菩提，尋找精神的綠洲。他一半生活在現實的塵世中，一半生活在心境的空靈裏，因此取名半齋且是居士，雖誦經而不拘泥於經，雖禮佛而不崇拜佛，因為他認為人皆佛性，悟者即是佛”。這是細雨曾對半齋兄的一幅速寫，當然是潑墨大寫意，只求神韻而不拘泥於具體形象的工筆細描。

半齋兄的雖是鍾情丹青，但卻是軍人之後，他的“父親是個軍人，他希望我能夠繼承他的'衣缽，所以給我取了一個非常富有戰爭氣息的名字--中原!(就是逐鹿中原的意思)可我從小不愛武槍弄棒，倒是喜歡舞文弄墨。為此沒有少受父親的敲打，可我不屈不饒，一如既往從事着我的愛好”。“ 善於塗鴉的我總是希望陶醉在自然之間，因為美來源於自然。在自然裏可以物我兩忘!常常在自然中發現靈感，捕捉靈感，創造靈感。讓靈感超越自然”! 有時半齋兄“ 端一盆清水 ，走進產卵的陋室 ，將靈感裁成條幅 ，焦幾筆濃濃淡淡的鄉情 ，變成八大山人的筆意 ，在燈下盡情塗抹 ，一個個潔白的日子 ，讓歲月變成一幅幅國畫 ，把孤獨懸掛 ，在年齡的軌道上 ，潑灑幾筆豪放 ，展示畫者的思想 ，一抹黃昏 ，一抹朝霞 ，斑斕的思緒 ，在文明的長廊中 ，綻放 ”。有時是“曾經邀月醉伯虎，太白遺夢看文章”，過着“遊山玩水憑逍遙，焚琴煮鶴醉夕陽”的日子。他自稱“ 我是一篇散文，散得無法用豆號連接，散得象海里的波紋 ，擴展着一個個黃昏 ，一個個黎明 ”。

半齋兄是個特別重朋友情義的人，他視朋友為春天，視朋友為太陽，“沒有朋友就沒有春天;沒有朋友就沒有太陽!得意時，朋友給你鳴笛。失望時，朋友給你打氣”。

文人總是和墨客並稱的，他不僅擅長丹青，對詩詞歌賦亦很精通，尤長於現代新詩，婉約悽楚時如斜月秋風滿落葉使人潸然淚下，傷感滿懷;豁達洞察時如口吐蓮花，妙語如珠，頑石點頭;豪情放歌時似鼓角聲聲，催人奮進。

半齋兄雖自曰半齋，但他始終認為“人生最大的欣慰莫過於有一個温馨、和諧、浪漫的家”!言此者擁有的豈止半齋矣。
