英語作文 篇3

There are many ways of traveling, People may travel by plane if they want to travel far and reach their destination in a shorter time. It is the most comfortable but expensive people travel by train because it is a less expensive way but the compartments are cramped and stuffy. Bus journey is a cheaper way but it is spent on narrow, bumpy roads which are crowded with traffic. Trips by ship may be the cheapest and most comfortable way but it takes too much time.

I tike traveling by bike. I can set out when I like and stop when I like. I can go wherever I like so that I can enjoy delightful spots rarely visited by other travelers. When I feel tired, I sit down by the bike and have a good rest. Besides, I can save much money for tickets and much time in waiting for the train or bus. I can cover more places by riding a bike than going on foot.

Traveling by bike is good to health. It is really a sort of good exercise to strengthen one‘s muscles and to test one‘s will. Moreover, it brings no pollution to the air. So it helps to clean the atmosphere.

A Random Remark on Teaching Methods

I’ve noticed that there are, basically, two teaching methods existing in our educational insitutions today. One is the traditional lecture method our teachers are used to; the other is the group learning method adopted by many of our guest teachers at college.

In a lecture classroom, the teacher dominates the class by doing most of the talking. Students listen and take notes. The method is best at passing on content to students, whose brains are seen as vessels to be filled in. And the rigid class schedule helps prepare students for a society tht values discipline and self-control. But generally, students remain totally passive, given little responsibility for their own learning.

In contrast, the teacher of a group learning classroom appears to have no definite role at all, and students are not required to memorize any information. Instead, they are encouraged to actively generate their own ideas, each contributing insights for the success of the group. This method best prepares students for a society that values creative ideas. The disadvantage is, however, that students are apt to overemphasize practical experience, lacking in necessary basic skills and background my opinion, a “hybrid” method might work better. On the one hand, teachers should spend considerable time preparing their lessons but leave more room for students to display their creativeness. On the other,

teachers should provide more interactive activities in class---designing challenging group tasks and encouraging different opinions. It is important that teachers get themselves involved in the lives of their students, fully aware of what they think and what the society really needs. Only in this way can students become active yet well disciplined, creative yet self-controlled.

英語作文 篇6

The girl who is in the middle of the photo is named Shen Yan. She used to be a lovely and active girl. But when she was ten, terrible illness caused her to be weak and fat. From then on, her life has changed a lot. Yan could not do any violent activities. She also could not have the P.E. lessons any longer. She could stand beside the playground, watching us playing. How helpless she is!

When the second term began, we found that Yan didn’t come back to school again. Miss. Lu told us that Yan was in hospital. Her family spent at least 150 thousand yuan on the medicine! Being Yan’s good classmates , we must help her!

On March..25, a ceremony of raising money took place in our classroom. First I read a passage about Yan. All of the people in the classroom were moved by her kindness and hard work. After that, we began to raise money for Shen Yan. Everyone put their pocket money into the money-collecting box. At last, we raised more than 1000 yuan. Although it was not too much, it showed our love and care.

April.1 was Yan’s birthday, some of the students in our class came to the Ruijin Hospital to see her with the money. Yan looked much weaker. When she saw us, she was very surprised. She asked a lot about our school and our class. Before leaving, we gave her an envelope with 1000 yuan in it. Yan and her mother were very thankful. But this was what we should do, I think.

At last, let’s sing this song ”if everyone offers some love, the world will be filled with warmth. ”

the great general yue fei created the "108 hands", the so-called yue shi san shou, which later was known as ying zhao (eagle claw).

英語作文 篇8

there was once a bridge which spanned a large river。 during most of the day the bridge sat with its length running up and down the river paralleled with the banks, allowing ships to pass thru freely on both sides of the bridge。 but at certain times each day, a train would come along and the bridge would be turned sideways across the river, allowing a train to cross it。

a switchman sat in a small shack on one side of the river where he operated the controls to turn the bridge and lock it into place as the train crossed。 one evening as the switchman was waiting for the last train of the day to come, he looked off into the distance thru the dimming twilight and caught sight of the trainlights。 he stepped to the control and waited until the train was within a prescribed distance when he was to turn the bridge。 he turned the bridge into position, but, to his horror, he found the locking control did not work。 if the bridge was not securely in position it would wobble back and forth at the ends when the train came onto it, causing the train to jump the track and go crashing into the river。 this would be a passenger train with many people aboard。 he left the bridge turned across the river, and hurried across the bridge to the other side of the river where there was a lever switch he could hold to operate the lock manually。 he would have to hold the lever back firmly as the train crossed。 he could hear the rumble of the train now, and he took hold of the lever and leaned backward to apply his weight to it, locking the bridge。 he kept applying the pressure to keep the mechanism locked。 many lives depended on this man's strength。then, coming across the bridge from the direction of his control shack, he heard a sound that made his blood run cold。 "daddy, where are you?" his four-year-old son was crossing the bridge to look for him。 his first impulse was to cry out to the child, "run! run!" but the train was too close; the tiny legs would never make it across the bridge in time。 the man almost left his lever to run and snatch up his son and carry him to safety。 but he realized that he could not get back to the lever。 either the people on the train or his little son must die。 he took a moment to make his decision。the train sped safely and swiftly on its way, and no one aboard was even aware of the tiny broken body thrown mercilessly into the river by the onrushing train。 nor were they aware of the pitiful figure of the sobbing man, still clinging tightly to the locking lever long after the train had passed。 they did not see him walking home more slowly than he had ever walked: to tell his wife how their son had brutally died。

now if you comprehend the emotions which went this man's heart, you can begin to understand the feelings of our father in heaven when he sacrificed his son to bridge the gap between us and eternal life。 can there be any wonder that he caused the earth to tremble and the skies to darken when his son died? how does he feel when we speed along thru life without giving a thought to what was done for us thru jesus christ?

英語作文 篇9

The images above are both meaningful and instructive: this man’s hard work is not only forhis own benefit, but also for the benefit of future generations.

The pictures serve to remind us that the existence of our current happiness and valuablenational heritage is due to the struggles of our predecessors.

We, in turn, should also work hard in order to guarantee the comfort and safety ofgenerations to come. Sustainable development has become a topic of heated debate in recentyears. While it is justifiable to satisfy current demands, we cannot neglect the needs of ourdescendants in the process. Our children also depend on Earth’s natural resources and weshould not deprive them of such necessities.

Unfortunately, many people only think of their short?term, personal interests. An entireforest might be clear?cut, in the interest of making a profit, without a single tree planted in itsplace. This inconsiderate attitude towards the welfare of our descendants, as well theindifference to the outcome of such reckless actions, can only turn Earth into a cold andlifeless planet. People must be taught to appreciate Earth as not only their home, but also thehome of our children and grandchildren, as well as all other plants and animals.

While making great efforts to increase our current quality of life, we must simultaneouslyconsider how our actions will affect future lives.
