　第一步：判斷句子之間的邏輯關係

GRE填空考察的就是整體邏輯語言的能力，考生的任務就是找出句子成分間的邏輯關係，並選擇一個合理且必然的選項。

句子成分間的邏輯關係對解題起着至關重要的作用，它們常常由一些明顯的關鍵詞提示。

最重要的幾種邏輯關係

因果關係：because, in that, for, therefore, thus, accordingly, consequently, hence, given, so…that, so…as to, when…then, as long as, in order to……

轉折關係：albeit, but, although, despite, however, in spite of, nevertheless, notwithstanding, while, whatever, regardless, even though, even if, yet……

對比關係：in contrast, on the contrary, far from, on the other hand, rather than, instead of, not…but, paradoxically, ironically, surprisingly, unexpectedly……另外還有時間的不同體現相反的關係等等

　第二步：尋找句子內部的重複線索

填空題的句子常出現陌生的專業術語，晦澀的思想觀點等，但對解題並不構成真正的障礙。因為題目本身往往提供了足夠的內容的.重複線索幫助你找到正確的答案。

題目的主幹要我們填Melodramas提供給觀眾一個怎樣的世界，同時又告訴我們它們表現了無辜與罪惡，美德與墮落之間的刻板對立，所以我們不需要知道Melodramas是什麼東東就可以判斷它們提供給觀眾的是一個刻板對立的世界，五個選項中只有E選項“全無中立的世界”表達了這個意思。

The new biological psychiatry does not deny the contributing role of psychological factors in mental illnesses, but posits that these factors may act as a catalyst on existing physiological conditions and _____ such illnesses.

A. disguise B. impede C. constrain D. precipitate E. consummate

這道題粗看起來內容十分專業，空格要求填factors 對such illnesses 有什麼樣的動作。其實句子中有一個明確的重複線索，factors 起到了一個催化劑的作用，所以空格中填入一個表達催化意思的詞語，就一定是正確選項。表示催化的感覺的詞只有D項：precipitate

第三步：判斷語氣和感情色彩

有時，通過正常的閲讀去理解句子比較難且費時間。但是用感情色彩去判斷，處理起來就變得比較方便。

e.g.

Johnson never _____ to ignore the standards of decent conduct mandated by company policy if _____ compliance with instructions from his superiors enabled him to do so, whatever the effects on his subordinates.

A. designed tacit

B. attempted halfhearted

C. intended direct

D. scrupled literal

E. wished feigned

句子的意思比較令人費解，但是從句末whatever the effects on his subordinates(不管對他的下級產生怎樣的影響)看，我們知道Johnson做的是一件不好的事情。

從第一個空格看，五個選項只有D的scrupled填入表達這樣的意思。

判斷邏輯關係，尋找重複關係，判斷語氣及感情色彩這三步熟練的結合運用，幾乎能解決所有的填空問題。

模式1：平行結構

特徵： a,b,c and _______

或者a,b,c and never ______

解題策略： 第一種情況，空格與前相同，第二種情況，空格與前相反。

解題策略： 根據遞進詞，B與A 是同義重複。

注意：indeed 只能表示遞進，譯為“更進一步説”;

模式3：remain, continue 模式

特徵：A remain(或continue) _____

解題策略：A直接填入空格

模式4：單空格模式

特徵：A____B

解題策略：若A=B，則空格填正評價，正動作

若A不等於B，則空格填負評價，負動作

編者的話：此模式常常搭配時間對比，極大提高解題速率。

武器級別——M68E1線膛炮北約制式。

模式5： 解釋模式

特徵：_____， 解釋

_____， 表解釋的名詞

表解釋的部分包括：分詞，不定式短語，介短，定叢，同位語從句，一些修飾成分等。

解題策略：解釋部分直接填入空格

編者的話：此模式的好處是不必理解句義，僅限於局部便可解題。

武器級別——M143六管MINIGUN

模式6：A&B模式

特徵： A (and ___B ___) | ___C___ | 表示句子分割

解題策略： 首先，括號中內容跳讀;

其次，直接將A的內容填入C;

最後，將C的內容填入B。

注意：

1. 並列關係不可以進行推倒，比如根據AandB，知道A，推出B與A同義，荒謬!

2. and 可以進行替換，比如or, as well as, not only but also, etc

例題：The results of the experient performed by Elizabeth Hazen and Rachel Brown were____ not only because these results challenged old assumptions but also because they called the _____ methodology into question.

ANSWER: ailing

編者的話：這個模式在遇到詞彙較複雜的題的時候，可以直接不理解句義直接看到重複。

武器級別——GBU43/B炸彈之母。

模式7：四元素模式

特徵： A ____C____ | ___D___ B | 表示分割

分割的前後分句分別是同一種邏輯關係，即A與C關係相同，B與D關係相同

解題策略： 若 A=B， 則空格為同義

若 A不等於B，則A填入D空格，B填入C空格

注意：常考一種變體，即 A __C___ | but __D__ B (轉折關係)

則將A或者B其中一個取反，交叉填入空格

例題：Even though in today's Soviet Union the ___ the Muslim clergy have been accorded power and privileges, the Muslim laity and the rank-and-file clergy still have little ____ to practice their religion.

ANSWER： leaders of... latitude

提示： leaders 與laity 反義， power and privilege 與latitude同義
