NUMBER OF OVERSEAS GRADUATES ENROLLing IN US STARTS TO RECOVER

The number of foreign students enrolled at US graduate schools rose 1 per cent this year, after three consecutive years of decline, according to figures to be released today.

The report, which was written by the Council of Graduate Schools, said that the rise was driven largely by an increase in first-year students from India and China – the countries that annually send the most students to the US.

The number of first-year Indian students enrolled at students at US graduate schools rose 20 per cent though the total enrolment of Chinese students dipped 2 per cent from last year. Total first-time enrolment of international graduate students rose 12 per cent this year.

美國研究生院錄取的一年級印度新生數量增加了20%，但中國學生總數較去年減少了2%。新錄取的國際研究生總人數今年增加了12%。
