good morning, everyone! my name is liu meng. i’m from class 7, grade 7. today, i’ll tell you something about the best way to learn foreign languages.

in schools boys and girls are learning foreign languages. english is one of the most important languages because so many people use it, not only in england and america, but also in other countries of the world. it is difficult to say how many people are learning it. millions of boys and girls at school are trying to do it.

which is the best way to learn a language? we know that we all learnt our own language well when we were children. if we learn a second language in the same way and it won’t be so difficult. how does a small child do? it listens to what people say, and he tries to guess what he hears. when he wants something, he has to ask for it. he is using the language, thinking in it and talking in it all the time. if people use a second language all the time, they will learn it quickly.

in school, you learn to read, to write, to hear and to speak. it is best to learn all new words through the ear. you can read them, spell them and write them later.

that’s all. thank you.

we are busier and busier now. sometimes we just feel stressed and painful and we forget to smile. please smile! smile to others around you. smile to the world!

smile is important in our life. for ourselves, smile can make us happy and relaxed when we are sad or stressed. when you smile, the world in your eyes are others, smile can make others feel comfortable and relaxed and they will like you.

also, smile can bring you success. i once read a story. a salesman tried his best to sale things but always failed before. then he learned how to smile. he smiled all the time and others felt he was so kind and his smile was so attractive that they all wanted to but his things. finally, the man became successful.

no matter you are happy or sad, do it now. the power of a smile is large. it can make all of us feel happy including yourself. smile to the world, to others and to everything.

i received a devastating blow to my self-confidence in the first interview of my college years. i applied to be a host in our student acting troupe and felt confident that i would be accepted. but one of the panel members told me: "you seem inadequate and you are a little vertically-challenged." my life has never been the same since. i used bigger heels to complement my height and psychological maneuvers and tricks to hide my lack of confidence. but no matter how hard i tried to look the part, there was still something missing.

as president of english club, i organized the rehearsal of snow white for an english party. unfortunately, we could not find an actor to be the last dwarf. it had to be someone who was humorous by nature and fluent in english. suddenly, all eyes turned to me, and i knew i would have to be the dwarf. to my great surprise and delight, once on stage, i was totally absorbed in the performance and my humorous nature was put to full use. as the dwarf, i was a big hit.

yes, each of us is only one among millions of others, but each of us is an individual and each of us is unique. cultivating our individuality will transform our lives, ma-ki-ng of them a kaleidoscope of new colors and textures.

a world deprived of diversity would be a bland and boring place. the real tragedy is not being short or shy or ugly, but having your identity lost in a world in which everyone is a clone of a model cool boy or a flawless charming girl.

given a choice, i would rather be ugly than live in such a world. i'd rather be a genuine dwarf accompanying a snow white than be a snow white among nothing but snow whites. i would rather be myself. i would contribute my individual and unique colors to create a more diverse universe. please, be yourself.

dear friends,

as we all know, we are what we eat. therefore, it’s very important for us to form healthy eating habits. however, bad eating habits are still very common among us students. some of us often go to school without breakfast; some like to have snacks; some others are particular about food; and still some eat or drink too much. all these bad habits will surely do harm to our health.

to keep fit, we should have various healthy diets, which generally include proper amounts of fish, meat, vegetables, fruit as well as main food. besides, we’d better have meals regularly.

in my opinion, we should try to develop healthy eating habits to build up a strong body. only in this way can we have enough energy to study better.

that’s all. thank you!

ladies and gentlemen,

i have had a lot of teachers in my school who have given me much help in my study. for their help i will never forget them. but today i am going to talk about a special teacher of mine. this teacher is not a human being and its name is“computer”. it has been teaching me a lot of knowledge and i appreciate it very much.

with the development of modern science and technology, computers are widely used in every teritories (1) including education. how can a computer be my teacher? how does a computer teach me? multimedia(多媒體)helps a lot in this aspect in recent years, and computer-based training (cbt) has become a popular educational medium (手段). even before the multimedia come (2) up, many different learning systems appeared, using the components and techniques we now associate with the term “multimedia”. multimedia components, such as graphics (動畫) , animations , sound and video, make the learning process easier through visualization. animations can present many complex subjects dynamically, but human teachers can not do this on blackboards. multimedia makes our study more lively and interesting. for example, a cd-rom disk named “encarta encyclopedia” contains 650 mb information including images, graphics, music clips, video clips, animations , texts, hotwords, and database search functions. fields involved includes physical

sciences, performance arts, social sciences, politics, military, education and so on. when pressing a button, i can hear american president clinton's speech clip. i may enjoy playing all kinds of musical instruments in the world. i can also see the animation of many physical phenomena. this makes physical concept to be understood deeply (3). the audio features of multimedia can greatly help me learning (4) foreign languages. with its speech output capabilities, i'm no longer dependent on an instructor for proper pronunciation.

how can i interact with a computer? there are many ways, including keyboard, mouse pointer, and touch screen. i often use a keyboard. when i press right keys, i can see and hear whatever i want. information world is at my fingertip. i wish that true speech input-output system would be invented one day.

as teachers, computers have a lot of virtues: they are positive, they have good memories and never lose any information stored in them. they have much knowledge in every field. they can let out all kinds of sounds, and can also improve the efficiency of our study. for example, if i want to, i can skip some chapters so that i can study at my own pace.

although computers will never take the place of human teachers, they are welcomed by more and more learners. computers will continue to evolve(發展)with the aid of modern technologies. computers are so powerful, helpful and important that everybody needs it, especially in the future! i love my computer teacher!

thank you.
