  Dialogue 1

Xiao Gao: What are you gonna get your pops for Father's Day? Don't tell me you forgot.

Jingjing: No, I didn't forget. I'm on the fence right now about two different things. I wasgonna buy him a watch, but then I saw a really nice shirt that I think he'd look good in.

Xiao Gao: I see. --------------------------------------------------

Jingjing: You're right, but I'm running low on cash right now and I don't get paid until the endof the month.

Xiao Gao: Well, if you want, I could spot you some money. You can pay me back after you getyour paycheck.

Jingjing: It's okay. I'll figure something out. Anyways, what about you? What are you gonnaget your old man for Father's Day?

Xiao Gao: I have a surprise for him. I wanna take him out to the park and have a picnic. Ifigured it would be a nice place for him to kick back and relax.

Jingjing: That sounds like a good idea. I'm sure he needs it after all the hell you put himthrough while you were growing up.

Xiao Gao: Hey! That's not very nice!

Jingjing: Haha! I'm just joking, geez, come on!

  Dialogue 2

Xiao Gao: So, what did you end up getting your dad for Father's Day?

Jingjing: Well, I scrapped the idea of getting him a shirt or watch, and decided to take him outto eat, just me and him.

Xiao Gao: That sounds cool. Did he enjoy the grub?

Jingjing: Of course he did. Don't you know? -------------------------------------. But thebest part of the night was the chit chat we had.

Xiao Gao: Really? What did you guys talk about?

Jingjing: I told him how grateful I was for having a dad like him. I'm sure it's not easy to raisea family. I wanted him to know how much I appreciate everything he's done.

Xiao Gao: Well, your dad must be a really good man. You know what they say: the appledoesn't fall far from the tree.

Jingjing: He's the best! By the way, I almost forgot, how did the picnic go?

Xiao Gao: Not very well. Right when we got there it started raining cats and dogs. We packedup our things and went back home.

Jingjing: That's a shame! Oh well, I'm sure he was still happy that you tried. It's the thoughtthat counts.

Xiao Gao: That's true. Next year I'll have to make sure I look at the weather report before I goon a picnic

Jingjing: Speaking of which, are you hungry? Let's go grab a bite to eat.

Xiao Gao: Sounds good. Let's go!
