Laura：

Tomorrow is Halloween. I know I'm ready. I bought two pumpkins and a big bag of candy. Do you want to help me make a jack-o'-lantern?

明天就是萬聖節前夕了。我都準備好了。我買了兩個南瓜和一大袋糖果。你願意幫我做個傑克燈嗎?

Mike：

I'd love to. I heard about Halloween when I was in Beijing. It's a kind of children's day. Small kids get dressed up, then walk around with paper bags or baskets knocking on their neighbor's doors. But what do they say when their neighbor answers?

很願意啊。我在北京的時候就聽説過這個節日了。這是孩子們的節日。小孩們喬裝打扮好後就帶着紙袋或籃子四處敲鄰居們的門。但是當他們的鄰居開門的時候，他們會對鄰居説什麼呢?

Laura：

They're supposed to say "Trick or Treat". Then their neighbor is supposed to hand out some candy.

他們會説"想要惡作劇還是款待我一下"。然後，這些小孩的鄰居就會拿出一些糖果。

Mike：

That's kind of cool. But what does "Trick" mean?

真有意思。但是"惡作劇"都包括哪些內容呢?

Laura：

Usually it's the older kids going around playing pranks, like punching the pumpkins left outside people's doors, or hanging a roll of toilet paper in someone's tree. They usually do it late at night after the little kids go home.

通常是一些比較大的孩子們到處走動來搞一些惡作劇，比如説把鄰居門口的.南瓜燈上戳幾個洞，或者給別人家的樹上掛上一卷衞生紙。他們經常在一些年齡較小的孩子回家後，趁着深夜幹這些事

Mike：

It sounds kind of fun. Maybe I could get together with my friends that night.

這聽起來挺有意思的。也許那晚我也可以和我的朋友們聚在一起呢。

Laura：

Usually the adults who don't have kids have a big party and get dressed up too.

一些沒生小孩的成年人會舉辦一個大的派對，當然也要喬裝打扮了。

Mike：

That does sound like a lot of fun.

這可太有趣了。

Paul：

Hi Wei, what are you going to do this weekend?

Wei：

I think I’ll stay in on Saturday and rest.

Paul：

Oh right… How about Sunday?

Wei：

Ah, I’m going to the pub to watch the football.

Paul：

Oh really? I’ll come along with you if that’s ok.

噢是嗎?如果可以的話我也會跟你一起去。

Wei：

Sure, you’re more than welcome. I’m meeting everyone at three o’clock.

Paul：

Oh great, I’ll see you there!

Have you decided what you’re going to do during your holiday?

Wei：

Yes. I’m going to travel around Europe.

Wow, that sounds great! Where are you going?

Wei：

I think I will start off in Paris. Then I’m going to take the train to Nice and then go on to Milan.

Paul：

Oh that will be lovely. You’ll be able to do lots of shopping I expect.

那肯定會很愜意。我想那你肯定會盡情的購物一番了?

Wei：

Oh yes and try lots of new food too.

Paul：

Great. Make sure you buy me a souvenir!

太好了。那你可一定要給我買個紀念品!

Wei：

Oh, don’t worry, I will!
