大多數人在閲讀的時候，有很多不利於提高閲讀效率的習慣。以下簡介幾種：

1.音讀

很多人都有出聲閲讀的習慣。這種閲讀方式的主要弊端就是使閲讀速度和效率受到説速度的限制。因為正常默讀速度幾乎要比出聲朗讀的速度快兩倍以上。此外，出聲閲讀往往以不同方式表現出來，有時是脣誦，有時是喉誦。讀寫活動都會影響眼睛的掃視速度。因此，要克服這種不良的閲讀習慣，就要養成通過視覺器官直接感知文字符號的視讀能力。

2.心讀

心讀是一種很難覺察到的閲讀習慣。在閲讀的過程之中，人體的任何部位，包嘴，頭喉都不動。只是在心裏自言自語，一字一句地讀出每一個詞。由於這只是一種內在的説話方式，因此要改掉比較困難。所以要強制自己在深入理解文章的同時，還要強制自己加快閲讀速度，才可以逐漸改掉這種壞的習慣。

3.指讀

指讀就是用手指，鋼筆或其他東西指着一個一個詞進行閲讀的習慣。這種單純的機械運動不僅會嚴重影響閲讀的速度，而且還會把注意力引向錯誤的方向。況且對英語考生的要求不是考其注意單詞的位置，也不是讓其在每個單詞上都平均花費時間，而是讓他們把注意力集中在作者要闡明的思想內容上。恰恰是這種指讀的習慣妨礙了眼睛的運動，並限制了大腦快速活動的能力。因此，必須克服這種不良的閲讀習慣，逐漸養成用腦反映文字信息的'能力。

4.複視

複視即回視，重讀現象。閲讀能力差的人往往過分依賴複視，以至於養成習慣。所以閲讀大量難度適宜的讀物，就不會因遇到生詞或不懂的短語，句子和段落而回過頭再來看，以至於養成複視的習慣。閲讀時要儘量控制自己，儘量做到一眼讀完就讀懂。如果這樣效果仍不明顯，可選用遮蓋訓練法，即看一行遮一行，使眼睛不重看。這樣反覆聯練習可見成效。

5.頭的擺動

有的人在閲讀文章時，頭部會無意識地左右擺動。這也是一種不良的閲讀習慣。在閲讀的時候，他往往會使自己的鼻尖對準正在讀的每一個字。這樣一來，當他順着一行字往下讀的時候，就會輕微地擺動頭部。而當他開始另一行時，就會很快地轉回去，以便使鼻尖再次對準要讀的部分。這種情況下頭的擺動，自己往往自己意識不到。而正是這種不必要的動作，對閲讀速度產生影響。因此，在閲讀時要想辦法檢測並控制頭的移動，以便養成閲讀時只移動視線的習慣。
