實用英語口語:情景交際-你居然在酒吧工作?

生活中人際交往實用英語

M: part-timer? Is that a new buzzword?

I: oh, it’s pretty popular among my classmates these days. So are you?

M: sure, I have a part-time job as a bartender.

I: cool! It must be amazing to work at a bar!

M: yeah, but I’m not there for fun. I have to remain professional and if I get distracted, the manager would be pretty upset.

I: that’s true. I’m wondering did you learn anything from the job?

M: of course. There’s always much to learn. I got to know more about the real world.

I: you mean you got working experience, right?

M: not just working experience. I would say the biggest lesson I learned is how to deal with people from all walks of life.

I: it must be very demanding.

M: sometimes it is. But after working for a few weeks, it’s easy to figure out.

I: really? It sounds interesting.

M: maybe you can come to the bar one day and I’ll show you around.

I: great. I’m looking forward to.

實用英語口語:情景交際-為什麼有這麼多胖的`人

C: well, there are certain factors that effect people's size and weight.

A: what are they?

C: one study said that low-income groups have a higher percentage of over-weight people than higher income families.

A: why?

C: the survey said that the low, income groups eat more junk food on a daily basis.

A: that makes sense. Probably less time to make dinner and the junk food is cheaper.

C: and junk food contains lots of fat and oil. There is one final reason why so many people are fat.

A: what's that?

C: nobody exercises anymore-not even kids! The average american home has the TV on for 6 hours a day!

A: wow! No wonder people are so fat. Say, Carl, looks like you could be doing a bit more exercising.

C: yeah, I guess so.

A: you should consider eating healthier food and getting some more exercise.

C: hey, I started a diet and lost 10 pounds.

A: so what happened?

C: well, I quit and gained it back plus 5 pounds.

A: you should have kept trying.

實用英語口語:情景交際-我可不想減肥

Carl: oh, really?

A: the point is that she has been persuading me to lose weight too.

C: well, it's a good thing for you.

A: good? Yes, it's good for her but not for me. You see, she tells me that I'll feel better about myself if I slim down. She keeps giving me newspaper clipping about the latest miracle diet and insists that I join a health club, as she has.

C:so you don't think you are fat and need to lose weight?

A: I just can't bear it that Emily made me feel like a baby who always pigs out on junk food.

C: junk food is not good for your health. Too much of it will make you fat.

A:but junk food is so easy. It requires no silverware or plates, no rigid mealtimes, no pleases and thank yous.

C: ok, but junk food has many disadvantages. As junk food contains high amout of iol and fat, you'll feel sleepy, not be able to concentrate when you have a lot of it.

A: yes, but life without chips, ice cream and coca cola is boring.

C: let me see. You could exercise more to keep fit.

A: well, that sounds better than giving it up.

J: I'd like to meet him. How many people have you invited tonight?

S: ten, but Bob and Mary can't make it. Bob has to work overtime tonight and Mary had something urgent come up at the last minute. So there will be eight people all together.

J: I see. What a pity that they are not coming! They are always such good company.

S: yeah, but it should still be a night to remember.

J: it surely will. You always have the best get-togethers. Where do you get such great music? You definitely know how to set the ambiance.

B: indeed. But let's stay in touch. I'll let you know how things go.

M: sure.
