　　第一部分對話：安排週末的活動

你將在這一講裏聽到下列三小段對話。廣播快結束的時候這三段連在一起聽，成了一長段會話。聽的時候，集中精力聽，最好不要邊聽邊看下面的材料。材料是相當容易的。你試試看。

兩位年輕的朋友Anne和Jane，都只有十幾歲，正在安排週末的活動。Anne想約Jane到海灘去玩，不過她首先要知道Jane有沒有空。

ANNE: Jane, are you doing anything on the weekend?

JANE: Well, I have to do the shopping on Saturday morning.

ANNE: Oh, well, what're you doing on Saturday afternoon?

JANE: Sorry, I'm tied up on Saturday afternoon, too.

ANNE: Well, have you got anything on on Sunday?

JANE: I've got something on on Sunday morning, I'm afraid, but I'm free

in the afternoon.

ANNE: Good. Well, why don't we go to the beach?

JANE: Great idea!

NAMES：

Ann/Anne(女子名)

Jane (女子名)

這對澳大利亞人來説，週末是比較重要的。許多澳大利亞人的工作日是星期一到星期五，週末由自己支配，譬如在星期六上午買買東西，參加或者觀看體育比賽，看望親友，到娛樂場所消遺消遣等。

**澳大利亞一種著名的鳥，叫的聲音象人的笑聲一樣。

因為有事不能參加某項社交活動，需要向人解釋，一般就用上面介紹的有關用語。而很少説I'm busy。也很少説I've got an appointment。Busy只用於説明工作情況，appointment只用於與醫生、牙科醫生、上級等約會，不用於一般的社交活動。

MAKING ARRANGEMENTS TO MEET A FRIEND與一位朋友約會

1. FINDING OUT IF YOUR FRIEND IS FREE 問對方是否有空

a) Are you free (next weekend/this evening/etc.)?

-Yes，I am.

-No, I've got something on, I'm afraid.

-Well, I'm tied up in the morning but I'm free in the afternoon.

b) Are you doing anything (on the weekend/tonight/etc.)?

-No，I'm not.

-Yes, I've got something on then.

-Well, I've got to do the shopping (on Saturday morning) but I'm not doing anything special(on Sunday).

c) What're you doing (this evening/on Saturday/etc.)?

-Nothing special.

Nothing at the moment.

- I've got to go to my Aunt's place(on Saturday).

d) Have you got anything on (on Sunday)?

- No (I haven't).

- I'm tied up all day, I'm afraid.

注意：

非正式地提到將來的事情，特別是在社交活動中與人約會，一般用現在時，尤其是現在進行時，例如：

I'm doing the shopping on Saturday morning.

I've got 80mething on on Sunday morning: on用了兩次，在句中的作用不同：(a)第一個on是這一句主要成分I've got something on的一部分。(b)第二個on是表明時間的短語on Sunday morning的一部分。

2. MAKING DETAILED ARRANGE-MENTS 具體安排約會

a)確定具體活動、具體地方

Why don't we (go .../meet at…/visit/play .../have a party)? 用於非正式談話，提出建議。

Have you ever been to…? 用現在完成時， 因為這是指到現在為止過去整個時間內發生過的事情，肯定的答覆可以是：

Yes，I have.(不説具體時間)

Yes，I went there last year.(用簡單過去時+具體時間。)

如果你知道你的朋友去過某地，可以用簡單過去時問問題，例如：

Where did you go?

When did you go there?

What did you do?

What did you see?

Did you see…?

How long did you stay…?

Let's (go to .../meet at…)和對方商量到什麼地方去，提出一個意見，為了徵得對方同意，可以用這個句式。Let's……的前面往往加Then或Well。

b)確定見面的地點和時間

Where will I meet you?

At my place/At the station/etc.

What time?

One o'clock/Three o'clock/etc.

注意：

問句和答句往往不用完整句;

商量具體安排時常用will，但在此以 前不常用will。在澳大利亞，提問時一般用will I，很少用shall I。

CONVERSATIONAL DEVICES

a) I'm afraid.

I'm afraid I'm tied up on Sunday.

I'm tied up on Sunday, I'm afraid.

I'm afraid在這裏沒有“我害怕”的 意思，只是比較客氣地説明自己對某事感到遺憾、抱歉。這個短語在會話時常用。

b) Well有兩種用法：

i)使説話的人有時間考慮如何回答，相當於漢語裏的“嗯”“‘嗯-”。(參看Dialogue 的第一句話。)

ii)意思是：這樣説來;那麼。(參看Dialogue 1，Anne的'最後一句話。)

注意：Oh well…的意思同(ii)，但通常有對目前情況認可，表示願意接受的含意。

PRONUNCIATION CORNER

注意聽廣播中的下列句子，聽完廣播後再練習：

a)凡問句的疑問詞以Wh開頭的，此問句用降調。

When did he go?

Where will we meet?

b) Are的弱化形式是快讀的[ə]。

c)英語國家的人通常不把下面標出的輔音全部讀出來：next Saturday而往往説：[ˈnek(s) ˈsætədei]

第四部分：練習

1.問你的朋友第三部分第一點裏的問題，請對方按照實際情艦回答，然後由你朋友問，你回答。

2.和你朋友一起朗讀開頭的三小段對話，模仿播音員的節奏和語調。問和答由你和你朋友交替進行。
