定語從句的前置

一、初識前置譯法

如果一個定語從句在句中的作用是修飾和限定名詞，那麼通常就採取譯為前置定語的方法。但譯成前置定語既不能影響原文所表達的意思還要使得整個句子表達顯得言簡意賅、連貫通順，語氣較強。

例子：Objects that do not transfer light cause shadows.

不透光的物體會造成陰影

Every man is rich or poor according to the degree in which he can afford to enjoy the necessaries, conveniences, and amusements of human life.

一個人是富還是貧，要看他能獲得生活必需品、舒適品和娛樂品的'程度如何。

二、前置翻譯的方法

1.前置譯法一

前置譯法的過程中如果定語從句中的謂語不含有具體意義，可以省譯從句中的賓語。這種譯法很簡單，也很有效果。

例子：The purpose for which electricity is used is numerous.

電的用途有很多

He is the man which he was.

他還是過去的老樣子

We have arrived at the same conclusion as they have .

我們已經得出了與他們相同的結論

2.前置譯法二

出於漢語行文的需要和邏輯關係方面的考慮，可以將定語從句提在主與之前進行翻譯，用來説明情況，但不作為被修飾名詞的定語。

例子：I suffered agonies that no one suspected.

誰也想不到，我內心經歷了多麼大的痛苦。

The police capitulated on the morning of the day when I volunteered to defy them.

那天上午我主動同警察同志對抗，他們卻頭像了。

There are also great advantages that come from the variety of culture brought by settlers from other lands.

移民從各地帶來了多種文化，產生了極大的好處。
