Step1: Warm-up
Let’s start
(1) Free talks. T: Today I go to school by bike/motorbike. Usually I go to school by bike/motorbike. What about you? Do you go by bike? Or by bus? Do you go on foot? Or by car?
(2) Lead-in. T: There are many ways to go somewhere. Look at these pictures. Do you know what they are?
Look at the picture of Let’s start and ask and answer.
Step2: Preview
(1) Preview the frequency Adverbs: always, usually, often, sometime, never. With reference to the Unit One Book Six.
(2) Let’s chant. Listen-imitate-chant.
Step3: Presentation
Let’s learn
(1) Show a toy bike and say: How do I go to school? I go to school by bike. Write the phrase: by bike on the board. Ask some of the SS: What about you? How do you go to school? Write the Sentences on the board: How do you go to school? I go to school by bike.
(2) Look at the cards and make phrases: by plane, by ship, on foot, by bike, by bus, by train, by subway. Then make sentences: I go to …

Step1: Warm-up

(2) Let’s chant.
(3) Let’s sing. Part C. Listen-learn-sing.
Step2: Preview
(1) Show the cards of some ways of transportation. Teacher asks and Ss answer.

(2) Let’s try. Listen to the tape and choose the correct answer.
Step3: Presentation
Let’s talk
(1) T: How do I go to school, do you know? Ask me, please! Encourage more students to ask teacher the question: How do you go to school? Show the pictures of a bike, a bus and a taxi and their prices. T: Usually I go to school by bike, because it’s good exercise. Sometimes I go by bus, because it’s cheap. It costs 1 yuan. Sometimes I go by taxi, because it’s too fast. It costs 10 yuan.
(2) Listen to the tape of the dialogue and answer the question: How does Sarah go to school? Listen-repeat-read.
(3) Use some phrases to replace on foot, by bike and say together. Then make dialogues.
A: How do you go to school?
B: Usually I go by bus.
A: Can you go by bike?
B: Yes, I can, but it’s too far. Sometimes I go by taxi, but it’s expensive. What about you?
A: I go to school on foot, because my home is near.

(2) Now let’s read the dialogue and find out how Sarah goes to the park. Can you draw the route on your paper? Ss read in pairs and the teacher help them to draw the route.
(3) The teacher demonstrates the route drew by the Ss and describe Sarah’s route to the park: “First, Sarah can go to Zhang Peng’s home by bike. Next, Sarah and Zhang Peng go to the bus stop on foot. Then they can go to the park by bus. Write the words: first, next, then on the board and read.
(4) Ss read the dialogue and finish the exercise.
(5) Listen-repeat-read.
